Migration and intergenerational stability in female employment: The impact of differences between sending and receiving countries

چکیده

Objective: This article studies the intergenerational stability of employment in families immigrants cross-nationally by investigating to what extent contextual differences between sending and receiving countries affect transmission labour force participation from mothers daughters.
 Background: It is often argued that a low level among female reflects gender norms inherited country, or, alternatively, it indicative obstacles social mobility country. We seek add existing research on this topic providing evidence systematically market behaviour immigrants.
 Method: use individual-level data European Social Survey (ESS) for 35 14-year period (2004-2018) combination with 172 1960 2018. First, we provide an overview rates different combinations contexts respect immigrants. Second, corroborate our descriptive findings multilevel models.
 Results: Our paper shows there are changes levels depending countries. find when women migrate high rates, their probability participating increases. However, also group high.
 Conclusion: Intergenerational seems be responsive observe highest daughters who migrated rates.
